DRAWN HAT COMPETITION – Thursday lunchtimes

One of the challenges for any bowls club is to convert the interest and enthusiasm of new members into active playing members that can participate in club matches, internal league teams or knock out competitions. It is also important to build confidence, consistency and opportunities to get to know other members.

We have introduced a new initiative this year to accelerate this transition, known as the Drawn Hat competition. This takes place at the bowls club every Thursday between 1200 and 1415 hrs and attendance is entirely at your discretion & convenience. You just arrive on the day to record the fact you want to play before 1210 hrs when the draw is made, then you may play a doubles match, triples or “fours match, depending on how many people arrive.

We can accommodate between 4 -32 people and ideally need a mix of new members and more experienced members to make the session go well. More experienced members will assist those still learning the technique and etiquette for bowling and will provide encouragement in a friendly (but slightly competitive) environment.

Who will you play with or against on the day?  ................. This is completely random as the draw is made a few minutes before you start playing. Hopefully you will experience a good mix over a period of time.

A copy of the format and rules can be found somewhere on this website.

I look forward to seeing old and new friends at these social bowls sessions throughout the winter months.
