“Although the club is closed the work continues. The green is being cut, the ditches cleaned out, the benches have been painted and now the hedges are being cut. Well done to all the helpers and also to Sue for the hard work on the garden at the front.  Such a shame no one is there to enjoy their labours”.

As the result of the COVID19 outbreak the committee have decided that the clubhouse will be closed until further notice

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We regret that as a result of the Covid 19 virus and relevant advice received from the government, that a decision has been reached to suspend all indoor bowling activities until further notice. The clubhouse will be locked closed from Tuesday 17 March for all but essential maintenance.

As we are in a fast changing situation, this website will be the primary means of communicating with the bowling community as things change and hopefully start to improve in due course. If you know of other members who don’t have access, please phone them and let them know what is happening.

Regarding the upcoming outdoor bowls season, please check the news section of this this website to see what, if any, bowling activities will be available.

You will appreciate that no dates can be set for future activities until the current problems recede significantly. Please keep well and safe until we see you next.

Welcome to Chipping Norton Bowls Club.

Did you know that Chipping Norton has a very successful indoor and outdoor bowls club?

Located just as you leave the town on the A361 Burford road the outdoor club was set up over 36 years ago and the indoor club has just celebrated its first 25 years of existence. Both are looking forward to a long association with the people of the town and surrounding areas in the future.

Members, both male and female, range in age from teenagers to members in their 80's, with some having been with the club since its formation whilst others are just starting.

Being one of the few indoor rinks in the area, members of the indoor section are drawn from outdoor clubs without indoor facilities from as far afield as Chadlington, Charlbury and Witney in the south, Little Compton in the North and Moreton-in-Marsh in the West.

The facilities include four indoor rinks and six outdoor plus a dining area and bar. The club has a very strong social calendar of events, which include a weekly club night each Wednesday from 6.00pm-8.00pm during summer months.

Members participate in competitions both within the club and County and on occasions at National level.
The indoor season commences in October and finishes in March and the outdoor from April until the end of September.

So do you fancy having a go at playing bowls? Two resident coaches Mike Harris and Bill Jarvie will be happy to get you started. For details contact Mike or Bill.

The club will be very happy to help you get started with coaching and the loan of equipment and members would love to see you.
